Recently Irami Oneida-Frimpong hosted Batya Ungar-Sargon on his podcast and it got well, a little awkward about 30 minutes and the awkward tension seemed to stay for the rest of the discussion. The two cover a wide array topics from Ungar-Sargon’s new book How Woke Media is Undermining Democracy, which leads into the two discussing race, and leads into Batya Ungar-Sargon’s having to defend her ability to quit her job, marry rich and live life as gold-digger. Which Ungar-Sargon calls sex-slavery and Osei-Frimpong calls…racist…because it’s easier for white women to become gold diggers than black women?
I honestly didn’t see (nor did Ungar-Sargon) see the conversation going in this direction but I must admit it was fairly entertaining. To be honest, I was kind of siding with Osei-Frimpong up until that point. I don’t know what point he was trying to make. It seemed like he said it more-so just to bring up the fact he finds Ungar-Sargon attractive—though I feel like there’s gotta be a more tactful way of going about giving a women a compliment that doesn’t involve implying she is so good looking that she could be a gold-digger
His awkward attempt at making some kind of point about race from this exchange was equally as awkward and cringe.
Overall the podcast is worth a listen if you like cultural hot-topics, mixed with a misogynists POV on racism.
